    In such cases, we immediately inform the customer and provide an updated report of findings with an estimate to follow. For example, during a recent roofing project, we discovered sheathing was needed before the shingles could be installed. We promptly informed the homeowner and adjusted the project scope accordingly and submitted to insurance for a supplemental review.

11. What kind of assistance does M Squared Contracting provide in documenting the damage for insurance purposes?

    We offer comprehensive assistance in documenting damages. Our experienced team takes detailed photographs using Company Cam, makes notes of all damages on the photos or in the descriptions section, and then estimates the repair costs we find. In some instances, it is best to wait for scope of repairs from insurance adjusters before estimating. We then compile these into a report for your insurer, like we do for all of our clients and submit it to you and the claims department email. This is why we request the claim number to attach any associated documents.  

12. Will M Squared Contracting communicate directly with my insurance company?

   This depends on the client’s decision to allow us to handle their claims. Typically, if we don’t get access to the claim number, desk adjuster or adjuster info, we cannot proceed with repairs. This is for a few reasons: 1.) If we have a supplemental repair that needs communicated, we will need access to this information to submit it. 2.) If we are owed a final bill from work done, we need to be able to verify funds directly from the claims department. This protects us in ensuring we receive all final payments. If granted all of the information accordingly, we can communicate directly with your insurance company to streamline the process, and ensure all damage is properly covered. We recently handled negotiations with an insurer for a client whose commercial property had suffered extensive hail damage regarding multiple different supplements and a vast adjustment of scope numerous times and having access to the desk adjuster directly helped tackle that process flawlessly.

13. How does M Squared Contracting ensure all potential damage is included in the insurance claim?

   Our thorough inspection and assessment process ensures that all damage is documented as best as possible when we arrive for the initial assessment and throughout the repair process. We cross-check all areas of your property and compare them against the insurance adjuster's report to ensure nothing is missed. If we find additional damages, we can communicate the details as we find them. Nothing is ever 100% until the demo is done and rebuild has begun.

14. Can M Squared Contracting provide a detailed estimate of the costs before work begins?

   Absolutely. We believe in transparency and customer service, so we provide a detailed estimate upon request. This includes labor costs, material costs, and any other expenses involved in the restoration. Our estimates are presented utilizing a few different programs with the main being the Xactimate estimating software customized to reflect the specific scope of work to be addressed.

We understand that some items listed in our estimates may not be initially found by the adjusters or covered by, or may specifically be excluded under certain policies. We ask that the adjuster please inform the insured policyholder of these items in writing. We may need to prepare a secondary billing/estimate for items which the policyholder is not indemnified (work not covered by policy).

The work descriptions in this estimate are maintained by a third party, using a customized pricing database accepted by most insurance carriers, and may not precisely describe the actual work to be completed. We attempt to adjust for this as needed. It is intended to be used to arrive at the nearest approximate cost of repairs. To satisfy the needs of the insurance industry, the estimates are written to provide a specific scope of work at a detailed package price. Line items include a description of the work to be done, the unit of measure and quantity needed. We present the Xactimate report through our CRM software in a detailed line-item form so that our customers can pick and choose which items to accept or omit and is fully customizable for the client.

15. What happens if the insurance claim is denied or underpaid?

   If a claim is denied or underpaid, our insurance specialists can help review the insurance company's reasons, gather additional evidence if needed, and advocate for a fair settlement. A homeowner in Montana had their claim initially denied, but with our assistance, they were able to secure a favorable settlement and complete the project. If denied, please reach out to us immediately before the time elapse so that we can determine what should be done.

16. What licenses and insurance does M Squared Contracting hold?

   M Squared Contracting is fully licensed and insured. We hold all the necessary state and local licenses required to operate in North Dakota and Montana. Our insurance coverage includes property, casualty, vehicle, unemployment, liability insurance and workers' compensation and we will add additional coverage as needed.

   Yes, we stand behind our work and offer a warranty on completed projects depending on the scope and nature of the project. The details and length of the warranty can vary depending on the project. In some instances, a warranty cannot be provided if the project is not up to code or other issues arise.

   Typically, we have seen kickoff dates anywhere from 1 week to 1 year out. This totally depends on the length of project, time of year and scope of repairs. Material acquisition is also a big factor. Our team is usually ready to begin work as soon as we have all the necessary approvals, deposit invoicing where needed, and contracts signed. In emergency situations, we aim to start work immediately to prevent further damage. We are currently working on a system to provide subscription services that could potentially include: Priority Booking, where subscribers can get priority when booking services. This can be particularly useful during peak periods when availability might be limited.

   The duration of the restoration process depends on the extent of the damage and the complexity of the repairs. However, we work efficiently to ensure your property is restored as quickly as possible.

   If changes or additions are needed after work has begun, we consult with the client to discuss options, provide a change order with the updated estimate, and only proceed with their approval. This is called a supplemental with insurance claims.
